How are you checking to see it's only read only?
How are you checking to see it's only read only?
1. When I right click the thumbnail of the Seagate drive and select "Get Info" The permission and sharing says "You can read only".
2. Also, it doesn't allow me to drag photos to the Seagate drive.
3. My iPhoto Library is on Seagate drive, so when I open IPHOTO app, it says it's locked.
What do you think?
Same happens to me. Also if you use Disk Utility it provides the same information. There doesn't seem to be any way to change the settings of the seagate drive. The option that used to exist in 'Get Info' for changing access options no longer exists.
I got my problem fixed finally.
All I did is to uninstall my Paragon NTFS driver v.9.5.5 and download a new version from the Seagate website and install version 14.0.456.
After that, you can now read and write to your Seagate Backup Plus drive,
Thanks for this update. I just followed your instructions and added the newer Paragon driver - mine is all fixed now as well. I didn't have the Paragon driver on my Mac I had deleted it and was using a Tuxera NTFS driver, which worked for all external drives. Obviously Tuxera will have to update their drivers for El Capitan.
I have this exact problem! Your answer/solution seems like it will work, but how do I uninstall the old driver?
Also, where are you seeing that it is v.9.5.5? All mine shows is Paragon NTFS for Mac OS X. It gives me the option to uninstall it, but I am scared to take this action since it was a product I paid for.
When you click on Paragon NTFS for Mac OS X, inside System Preferences, the screen displayed general info for the driver. The version number is at the bottom right of that screen (in small font}. I got my new version of the driver from Seagate.com FREE so I uninstall my old one without hesitation and install the new one.
Hope this help.
I did as obeebee instructed and installed the latest driver from Seagate. The only difference is that I did not have to uninstall the previous version. It worked again after the update. Thanks so much for your help!
I followed Obeebee and JcHauser and was able to resolve the issue. Thanks Guys
