May 12, 2016 12:54 AM in response to corvairkidby charliebn,This Outlook intermittent window-sizing problem in El Capitan [still there after several updates inc 14.6.3] drives me NUTS. WHEN is Apple going to fix this? It just wastes so much time.

May 12, 2016 1:00 AM in response to aero1247eby charliebn,My experience, aero1247e, is that this window-sizing problem [worst and most infuriating in Outlook] STILL exist. It drives me nuts.

May 12, 2016 4:36 AM in response to charliebnby corvairkid,Yes the problems still exist.
But, as has been stated many times in this thread, there are 2 very easy and simple work-arounds.
For the Apple Calendar problem, simply keep the "Calendars Side-Bar" closed.
For the Outlook problem, just remember to "Minimize" the Outlook window instead of "Closing" it.
By doing these 2 simple things you will never see the problems again.

May 12, 2016 5:24 AM in response to corvairkidby charliebn,This is true, corvairkid - and well done for finding/suggesting it.
But it's still a pain in the *ss.
[Have you got a Corvair?]

May 17, 2016 4:47 AM in response to corvairkidby charliebn,Has 14.6.4 finally cured this window-sizing issue?
I downloaded it this morning - and 3 hours later it seems to have - FINGERS CROSSED .....

May 17, 2016 4:47 AM in response to charliebnby FUZZY DUNL0P,Still not fixed for Adobe CC software in 10.11.5. Still ridiculous.

May 17, 2016 6:32 AM in response to FUZZY DUNL0Pby corvairkid,Version 14.6.4 of Outlook for Mac 2011, and version 10.11.5 of OS X El Capitan have not solved the window size problems.

May 17, 2016 7:20 AM in response to corvairkidby charliebn,Well that's odd. I downloaded 14.6.4 this morning and about 6 hours later now, and having opened and closed Outlook at lot to check, the - at least my - infuriating Outlook window-size problem has vanished after 6 our so infuriating months. I hope it goes on like this. Other than 14.6.4, what else could have caused this miraculous change?

May 17, 2016 10:00 AM in response to charliebnby corvairkid,I can't tell you why it's working for you. I hope it stays fixed, but based on past experience, I fear that your problem will eventually return. I hope I'm wrong.
What I can say, is that, on my computers, the window size issues for Apple's Calendar and Microsoft's Outlook for Mac 2011 have not been fixed by these two recent updates.
The work-arounds will continue.

May 17, 2016 10:36 AM in response to corvairkidby charliebn,Well, 3 hours later both Outlook & Apple Calendar are still, after installing 16.6.4, holding the sizes I closed them at - and I've done it a lot to check.
So, as you can imagine, my fingers are v.much crossed.
But of course I'll keep your two simple work-arounds up my sleeve - thanks for them, corvairkid - clever!
-
May 18, 2016 12:41 AM in response to charliebnby charliebn,24 hrs after installing 16.6.4, Outlook is still holding its 'as-closed' size perfectly every time I re-open it.
I can't think of any other logical reason than 16.6.4.
So my fingers remained crossed - this has been a nightmare for months ... until yesterday.

May 18, 2016 2:22 PM in response to corvairkidby mcdermp,Another trick I found:
If you inadvertently close the Outlook window, go to the dock and quit using the Outlook application icon. If you then open Outlook using the dock icon, the window opens to your specified size.

May 19, 2016 10:32 AM in response to mcdermpby charliebn,It does, mcdermp - clever man! Thank you. To keep for when my Outlook sizing f*cks up again. Thank you.
But, 2 days on, having downloaded 16.6.4 Outlook is holding its as-set window sizes perfectly......

May 19, 2016 12:53 PM in response to corvairkidby watsonfromarlington,Well, when I upgraded, Calendar stayed the same size... then it didn't. It reverted back to its horrible problems. As well, Preview now does not work on my iMac. Very strange. It's always something. Getting very tired of Apple lately.
