Jan 13, 2016 10:04 AM in response to aero1247eby corvairkid,Earlier this morning, I updated my Outlook For Mac 2011 to the latest version, 14.6.0.
Issue not resolved. I didn't think it would since it's Apple's problem.
Considering that Apple still hasn't fixed the incompatibility between El Capitan and Apple Calendar, I don't have any high hopes that they will fix the problem between this operating system and a 6 year old Microsoft application.
Still using the yellow button to minimize/hide the Outlook window, which still works fine.

I noticed that at the top of this thread, there is a link: "Branched to a new discussion."

Jan 17, 2016 5:40 AM in response to corvairkidby corvairkid,I just sent another bug report to Apple regarding these 2 problems (Outlook window size, Apple Calendar window size).
Perhaps if more people do this it will get someone's attention.
Here's the link to the feedback form: http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
By the way: There is a work-around for the Calendar problem that seems to work.
When using Calendar, select View, then select Hide Calendar List.
Since I've been keeping the Calendar List hidden, Calendar remembers it's window size and opens to the size previously used every time.
Hope this helps.

Jan 19, 2016 12:47 PM in response to corvairkidby aero1247e,Installed OS X 10.11.3 update released today. Closed and reopened Outlook 15.18.0 for at least 20 times. So far, so good. Fingers crossed.

Jan 19, 2016 4:56 PM in response to aero1247eby corvairkid,Also installed OS X 10.11.3 earlier today.
The window size problems with Outlook for Mac 2011 version 14.6.0 and Apple Calendar version 8.0 also appear to be fixed!!
Keeping all fingers and toes crossed!!!
Will report back soon.

Jan 19, 2016 5:07 PM in response to corvairkidby corvairkid,So much for that!
No sooner did I write the last post, when I went to re-open Outlook and it opened up in the small shrunken size again.
Calendar still seems to be fixed, but Outlook 2011 is NOT.
Back to minimize/hide.

Jan 19, 2016 5:15 PM in response to corvairkidby corvairkid,Well, I guess tonight's not my night.
I just restarted my iMac and Calendar reopened in the truncated size again.
Back to keeping the side bar hidden I guess.
I don't know what Apple fixed with this update, but it sure wasn't their own Calendar or Outlook for Mac 2011.

Jan 19, 2016 10:22 PM in response to corvairkidby aero1247e,Also back to the problem. After the first reboot immediate after the update I reopened Outlook 2016 for 50 times and window size was remembered. So was iCal that opened correctly. Then, I rebooted again and - tataaaa - back to the same problem with both Outlook and iCal.
Interesting to note is how surprisingly much this problem affects my daily experience with my (then) beloved MacBook Pro, OS X, etc. Apple/Microsoft/whoever have succeeded in really spoiling it. Not to mention that Windows users I work with laugh at me.

Jan 27, 2016 2:26 AM in response to aero1247eby Jonathan Spall,Drag the the .com.microsoft.Outlook365.plist file and .com.microsoft.officeprefs.plist file to the desktop found in Library > Group Containers > Then relaunch Outlook.
If you are having problems with the iCal - drag the iCal.pref file to the desktop and relaunch iCal.
Both fixed the issues iCal and Outlook were having.

Jan 28, 2016 9:45 AM in response to corvairkidby lrostoen,I am also still having issues. After the last Office update, a few weeks ago, it seemed to be working fine. But now with the newest El Capitan update 10.11.3 - broke again. This is really driving me crazy. I guess nobody has a fix yet?
