Q: Window Size Problem with El Capitan

Since upgrading to El Capitan, Microsoft Outlook will not remember it's window size after I close and reopen, or quit and restart the program.

This problem did not occur with any previous operating systems.

Please help....

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11)

As I stated on page one of this thread this problem also occurs with every Adobe Software (weirdly except InDesign) and it's a known bug at Adobe.

However, the Adobe staff blames this on Apple and says that Apple has to fix its OS code.

Apple has been informed about this issue by Adobe representatives months ago. You can read more about that here.

Well, let's wait some months more … maybe Apple fixes this on Mac OS Y.

I know - I read your comment.  Still doesn't help those of us where every single time a file, program etc is opened, the box defaults to small.  I agree with you, obviously an apple issue, since it is happening to absolutely EVERY SINGLE  program I am using.  Starting to get massively irritated.

I just wanted to mention that Apple has written a new OS with a number of changes. Those changes apparently caused certain features of Adobe products not to function the way they did. It is not up to Apple to change their code to accommodate third-party vendors such as Adobe. It is up to Adobe and other third-party vendors to make sure their software works correctly with a new OS.

    I found a solution palliative
Open calendar.app> go to menu View > Hide list of calendars
    Close and reopen app

This is so ridiculous … Adobe says it's Apple, Apple says it's Adobe. Are they back to preschool or what?

They should simply start talking to each other and get that crap fixed. I'm paying a s***load of money to get my work done. The only thing I'm doing at the moment is paying, calling hotlines ("let's delete the preferences" oh yes, brilliant!) and writing stuff on forums where never eeever any company representative reads anything because obviously they don't f***ing care!

The only Adobe software that I use on a regular basis is Adobe Acrobat Reader DC ver. 2015.010.20056. I just recently upgraded to that version.

I have never had a window size problem with it, or with any previous versions of Reader.

    Perhaps Reader is not affected?

I am having no problems with the Apple Calendar window being truncated as long as I keep the Calendars Side Bar hidden.

I am also having no window size problems with Outlook for Mac 2011 ver. 14.6.0, as long as I use the yellow minimize button instead of the red close button.

So, for me at least, there are easy work-arounds.

    try to calm down.

Whoever's fault you may think it is, it will no doubt be fixed in due course. There's nothing to be gained by blowing a gasket.

Thank you for the Solution - this should be at the top of the string.

There is a work-around for the Calendar problem that seems to work.

When using Calendar, select View, then select Hide Calendar List.

Since I've been keeping the Calendar List hidden, Calendar remembers it's window size and opens to the size previously used every time.

This is still an issue - I even did a clean install of El Capitan before I came across this thread!

Anyone know if it's fixed in 10.11.4 ?

On my iMac 5k retina, in addition to the window shrinking issue, the reading pane in Outlook 2011 also disappears.

    Annoying,
