iMac with second screen - only one sound output?

I have just connected my iMac to a second monitor (TV with HDMI). All works OK for picture, but I can only get sound from the iMac or the TV. It seems strange having video on one monitor with sound coming from the other. Is there a way I can set it so sound comes out of whichever monitor is displaying the source?

Thanks

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5)

Hold the Alt (Option) key and click the Sound icon up on your menu bar. That should give you the option to select between any of the audio devices that are connected and usable.
