how to prevent double space on a enter/return?

I figured this out one time but again am stuck - I am typing a word or two and hit enter/retrun and type some more and I get a wide space between lines. how can I keep this normal spaced? when I adjust it in the inspector somewehere when the word wraps around down to the other line it overwrites the previous line and I have to reset this to 1 again. Stupid little things like this in Pages is making it not to fun at all. I may have to go back to appleworks or even neo-office.


I am writing a book in Pages and this is a real hassle I can see.
