I have the 3rd gen Apple TV and a Sony Bravia television. On connecting the devices I get "unsupported signal. Check your device output". What could be the problem?

I Recently bought an apple 3rd gen tv. I have a Sony Bravia. Been trying to connect and tried two different hdmi cables but still get " unsupported signal. Check your device output" . What is the problem and what can I do?

Try it with another TV and see what results you get.
