I downloaded it, but then had to clear more space out to install. Now it shows in the app store "downloaded" which is grayed out, but the file is still on the HD and where I am now the internet is a little slow. I can't figure out how to access and re-open the installer, any ideas? Thank you!
I semi-solved this. If you go to launchpad you'll see the El Capitan Installer. Nothing else would even download or work in the App store, it seems like it can't find it's own download, and even after clearing out the App store unfinished downloads folder, it still wouldn't work. Seems like a bug somewhere, but anyway, the installer was in Launchpad (though nowhere else I could find), and now it's installed and amazingly, an update actually made things work faster, woohoo!
