HOW TO TURN OFF WIFI AND JUST USE TIME CAPSULE
I would like to turn wifi on my airport time capsule and just use ti for back ups only. Can I do this? If so how?

You can turn off the WiFi. How well things will work using another wireless is open to question.
Assuming that you are using a current or recent operating system on your Mac.....
Open Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the picture of the Time Capsule
Click Edit in the smaller window that appears
Click the Wireless tab at the top of the window
Change the setting for Network Mode to Off
Click Update at the lower right of the window and give the Time Capsule a minute to restart
