ipod touch 1.1.5 not able to connect to itunes

I have done the software update in my computer- I have just upgraded to el capitan. Now the itunes cannot conect to my ipod touch. The message is "iTunes could not connect to the iPod touch “Paula Almeida Coelho’s iPod” because an invalid response was received from the device."

I could not imagine the software would become incompatible.

Can some one help?
