Siri will not activate speakerphone

So if I use "Hey Siri" to make a call, it's supposed to automatically initiate speakerphone. It even says, "Calling XXXX on speaker", but it doesn't do it.

Even if I initiate Siri regularly by holding the button and say, "Call XXXX on speakerphone", it doesn't do it.

The only way I can get it to work is by setting "Call Audio Routing" in "Accessibility" settings to "Speaker" instead of the default "Automatic". But that means all calls are routed to speakerphone which I don't want.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

I've had this same exact problem since the feature was introduced, but I may have found a partial solution. It seems the problem only exists while my iPhone is connected to my home router. Don't know how I never put it together before. I just edited my router's settings, and removed some old port forwarding from ages ago, rebooted the thing, and now, Siri puts my calls on speaker. Crazy! Can't explain it, but perhaps that will put you on the right path to figuring things out. Good luck! -Taz

Same problem here. Six senior advisors at Applecare and one day spent at the Genius bar could not solve the problem. However, after reading the experience of "Aftershok", I noted that "Hey Siri" will activate the speakerphone if set to cellular data but not if set to wifi on my new Airport Extreme router at home. ( BTW, the router shows correct connections to my Macbook Pro on 10.11.1 and iPhone 6s Plus on iOS 9.1, so it's not a router issue.)

I will test Siri on outside wireless networks to see if the same problem occurs.

Timberfish! Just wanted to chime in and say that my Siri issue has returned (so adjusting my router was only a temp fix), but more importantly, I'm also using the latest model of the Airport Extreme. Perhaps that is the culprit. I want to try issuing the "on speaker" command while on someone else's wifi network, but the opportunity hasn't come up yet. If another wireless router (from another company) allows the function, I'll also give it a try on a friend's Airport Extreme -- just to confirm it's about the combo. More to come!

I just checked and the "Hey Siri" option is what is preventing it from making a call and activating the speakerphone. I deactivated "Hey Siri" and it worked fine on wi-fi. I then re-activated it and was forced to train Siri for my voice again. I plugged the phone in to the charger and it worked fine. Next, I unplugged the phone and tried Siri with the home button again and it worked fine. I'm not sure if this is a long term fix or not. I thought iOS 9 was supposed to be about fixing bugs and not creating new ones.

I've used Apple computers and devices since 1980 and the recent years are the buggiest and have too many design changes for the sake of being trendy instead of functional, like the super thin fonts that made the UI unreadable.

Has this been resolved on iOS 10 or on the iPhone 7? Speakerphone is not activated for me even if Siri acknowledges "Calling XXXXXXX on speaker". It does not work regardless of whether I am on wifi or cellular data.

I might try disabling Hey Siri later like what the last post suggested, but wanted to get a feel on how this is fairing lately. Thanks!
