Hi! In attempting to create more disk space on my desktop iMac, I inadvertently erased some important App Store data.
It will no longer open. How do I either restore the App Store, or download another version.

You will need to reinstall OS X. Either update Yosemite or upgrade to El Capitan and it should fix the Mac App Store.

to upgrade to El Capitan.Have tried to upgrade, but refers me to the App Store.
Download and manually install this combo update. It will bring any version of OS X to the most recent version of Yosemite and it will hopefully restore the Mac App Store to working order.
