How do I get iCloud to recognise my MacBook Pro

I successfully set up,an iCloud account when I first got my MacBook Pro 15 inch mid-2012 in 2013. Since then I have installed Yosemite and now El Capitan. And iCloud no longer seems to recognise my MacBook Pro.

what do I do now?

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11)

I Asked the wrong question. I have now successfully accessed my iCloud account with my Mac and all seems well, but I am puzzled by Apple Support sending me an email saying that someone had accessed my account using a web browser and if it was me I should ignore the mail.

FIne. It was me, but do they do this every time I açcess my account or is it that they don't recognise my browser? And if that is the case then how do I deal with it?
