imovie 10.0.7 using osx yosemsite 10.10.2 itunes files protected and not available

I have 6 songs from my itunes library that are identified as protected and not available in imovie. To get around this I have actually repurchased some songs. However, I have tried to repurchase the songs in 2 instances and the file is still identified as protected and not available. Has anyone had this issue and how have you resolved it?
