Network Account Unavailable

Hi,

I updated my MacBook Air to El Capitan today morning and after the update, I am not able to login, it says "Network Account Unavailable" whenever I try to enter my login details. There is a red dot as soon as I click on "Others" login option on the login screen.

Also, while I am able to login using my local account, once I go to System Preferences > Users & Groups, I am not able to edit any of the login options, after click on the lock icon, I enter my password, however it doesn't unlock the login options. (I am entering correct password)

Any idea how this can be resolved.

Thanks!

The problem I have is somewhat similar to that. I'm trying to login using domain credentials. I've added the machine to the network and I was able to login with my domain account credentials before but now I get the same error message with the red dot. Any ideas if theirs a setting i need or some sort of failed connection between the mac and AD? I can see that it's in AD and it see's all the users in AD including mine if I want to set only my machine to log into the mac.

We do a lot of work with network accounts, and have seen this a lot. There are 2 things that usually cause this for us:

1) Your Active Directory has set a limit to how long your computers can be away from the server before they have to "check in" again. To solve it, make sure you're plugged into ethernet on the same network as your AD and try again. (In our case, the wifi and ethernet are on different VLAN's so the computer has to either be on Ethernet or VPN to get access to the AD server.)

2) Your DNS settings were configured incorrectly. This could be as simple as putting them in a different order.

I've also had to unbind and rebind computers to re-activate / reinitialize the connection to the AD servers. Kind of like unplug and plug it back in.

Hopefully that helps!

Hi, i'm having the same problem. I think it happened when i updated to El Capitan. I haven't found a way to fix this and my IT can't help (basically said good luck). Are there any steps i can go through to get this working? Is there a way to go back to Yosemite and would if fix my problem?

Any help with this issue is appreciated.
