I want to keep the same gmail address, but want to change the username in Mail. Was able to do this on the same googlemail online email account, but not in iMac mail. Anyone know how to change Username in Mail?

Mail/Preferences/Accounts - select the account, then go to Account Information/Alias/Edit Alias.

Thanks, Eric. Got as far as Account Information, but no Alias/Edit Alias appeared (I'm a happy OX Mountain Lion user). Was able to change the name in Full Name field, so the problem is solved.
