How To Delete Apps From "Not on This iPhone"?

How do I delete old, unwanted apps from my iPhone that are located at the App Store > Updates > Purchased > Not on This iPhone?

Using my computer, I have connected to iTunes, went to the App Library, and deleted the old Apps by sending them to the Recyle Bin. I had expected that these apps would no longer show up on my iPhone. I have synced my iPhone with iTunes. Unfortunately, some old apps still remain. How to I completely get rid of them so that they no longer show up on my iPhone?

If they're listed under "Not on this iPhone," that indicates they're no longer on your phone to remove. That's just your purchase history, a record of apps you've downloaded in the past.

All the Apps have "download clouds" above them, indicating that I can download them at any time to reinstall.

Some old apps--for example, those related to the Sochi Olympics--are gone. They are deleted from my iPhone, deleted from my iTunes App Library, just gone period.

I'd like these old apps that I no longer want gone, too.

Or do they stay there, until the developer removes them from iTunes?
