Updated to El Capitan, now DVD Player won't play DVDs that used to play before the update.

My late-2011 MacBook Pro has never had any problems playing DVDs in the past. After updating to El Capitan (OS X 10.11), DVDs that used to play no longer do. Literally 2 days before updating to El Capitan, I played a movie, and now that same movie won't play in DVD Player. I get this message: "Supported Disc Not Available." I've tried several different DVDs, all of which have played in the past, and now I keep getting the same message. A basic search suggested I needed to "repair permissions" in Disc Utility, but the new update to El Capitan no longer has this as an option.

What can I do to fix this?

I seem to have a similar problem. As soon as we updated to El Capitan (OX X 10.11), most DVDs would no longer play properly in the external USB powered Samsung DVD (SE218). It plays them, but any use of the mouse to control the movie causes the visual to freeze or stutter, but not the audio. After a few seconds it will work again, but any movement of the mouse causes it to malfunction. This occurs only on an iMac late 2012; not on a more recent MacBook pro or an older iMac, both of which do not seem to have any difficulties. It is not always consistent, it started immediately after the update, then a couple of movies were fine, and then it started up again. It doesn't seem to matter if other USB devices are connected or not.

No other problems with the update, although once when exporting a button set from Aperture and renaming the .plist, each letter was repeated twice.

Hope we can find a solution. Thanks.
