Q: Music From Phone: Honors Offline Setting?

Obviously if you're an Apple Music subscriber and you're using your Apple Watch to control music on your iPhone and you choose quick play or radio, the phone is going to stream from wifi or cell data. But what about My Music? Does Apple Watch honor the show only offline (downloaded) music setting on the iPhone? Or does My Music on the watch show and play your entire music library from your iPhone, even if Apple Music on your iPhone is set to show, and likewise play, only music that has been downloaded to the phone -- usually to avoid steaming music till you exceed your monthly cell data cap and get hit with a surcharge.

I kind of have this question in reverse: I'd like to ascertain that it is in fact possible to control streaming music on the phone from the watch (away from home). The Solo 3 headphones do have volume control from the left earpiece (if you can find the right bit to push), but no way to skip tracks or anything more elegant without fishing about for the phone itself. Airpods don't even have that.

The user guide is not explicit on this, and it would be good to have the capabilities fully delineated before shelling out the hundreds of quids here

Generally for any music player streaming or from files on the phone itself, if there's no specific Watch app -- I think Pandora has a specific Watch app that comes with phone app, will automatically or manually install depending on your preference settings -- you can control music via the music remote on the Watch. This may not be true in absolutely all cases, but I've never had a problem with Apple Music or Spotify. If you use some really obscure streaming service that doesn't well comply with iOS music features, it might not work, or may require a Watch app. Bear in mind, unless it's Apple Music via the standard Watch music remote, or a specific tailor-made Watch app, features like radio, playlists and whatnot can't be controlled via the Watch music app. Just the basics: play/play/stop/skip/skip back/volume and etc. It DOES work though, quite well in my experience and I'm over a year into owning and daily using an Apple Watch.

Cheers for the reply, squire! I missed the date of the original post, otherwise I might have bunged in a new one.

It is indeed Apple Music, which I would hope integrates neatly. And the OS3 sounds like a boon. Deposit down, as the exotic colours haven't reached North-East England yet. Flaming slow camels
