I don't want ALL my Pages docs to be transferred to ipad

With icloud can I select which ones to send to ipad? I see that most people don't like Dropbox. Can anyone suggest another method to move things to ipad?

Only ipad, not ipod. Thanks for help. Also will the upgrade of ipad make any difference? Will I lose stuff?
