How to use new multi tasking on iOS 9

I Down loaded the new ios 9.0.1 & looked up how to do the multi tasKing &I I tried it and it's not working

iPad Mini, iOS 9.0.1

Picture in Picture and Slide Over are available on iPad Pro, iPad Air or later, and iPad mini 2 or later. Split View is available on iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, and iPad mini 4.

It is not available on the iPad Mini.

None of the cool, new multitasking/split screen features will work on older iPad models from the iPad 2 to the 1st generation iPad Mini.
