el capital download is waiting, what to do?

I went to the app store and started recommended download of El Capitan. When I noticed it was going to be about 12 hrs, I paused it. Now I hit the resume and it is "waiting".

What should I do? I was going to delete it from the application file but my wife said not to do that.
