Feb 19, 2016 8:55 AM in response to Dgahchafshby Old Toad,Your statement is entirely incorrect on 2 fronts:
1 - there are no know viruses for Macs.
2 - cleaning apps do more harm than good to Mac systems and are considered malware around here. Just search the support forums for "cleanmymac", "mackeeper", and others and read how they have trashed the systems and applications of those who have used them.
Do not go around offering such blatant, inappropriate and false information. It's a disservice to other users who might not know better.
You should read this user tip to become acquainted with the general problem: Do not install MacKeeper

Thanks a lot, Bob. I forgot about the hidden menu command.
And I will restrain myself in the forums, although this El Capitan version was a public beta, I think now in general release.
The following is from the Public Beta terms of use you agreed to:
10. Discussion Forums. As part of the Beta Program, you may have the ability to participate in discussion forums provided by Apple about the Pre-Release Software and other Confidential Information that Apple may make available to you. For purposes of such discussion forums, Apple is providing a limited exception to Section 6 by allowing you to discuss certain Apple Confidential Information received by you in connection with a particular seed with other seed participants who are in the same seed as you in the Apple designated discussion forum for such seed, and only within this discussion forum. Except for the limited purpose of discussions with other seed participants within such forums, you acknowledge and agree that this Agreement does not grant you the right to copy, reproduce, publish, blog, disclose, transmit, or otherwise disseminate any Apple Confidential Information.
These fourms are NOT the beta forums. That is the reason you should not be posting here and why we should not be helping.
Switch back to 10.11.3, or wait until 10.11.4 is released, then you can post here. -
Feb 21, 2016 5:38 PM in response to BobHarrisby Bob Jacobson,As you're more experienced with beta programs, Bob, can you briefly explain the difference between a "developer beta" and a "public beta"? Are they one and the same or two different categories of beta versions? If a beta is public, how can it be protected? Not being contrary, I'm seriously wanting to be in the know. Thanks.

Feb 21, 2016 5:42 PM in response to Bob Jacobsonby Bob Jacobson,Sorry, I found out myself: https://beta.apple.com/sp/betaprogram/faq/. Public betas are confidential in the same way as are developer betas. There'll be no further discussion of 10.11.14 until it's released publicly. Thanks for cluing me to the situation.

You could run the EtreCheck utility and it will list all the 3rd party stuff

If you are considering posted a problem report, please start a new thread (see the "New" button at the top of this page). If it is going to be about slow El Capitan, please post the output from EtreCheck in your new thread.
