Photos white squares after backing up to new phone

I got thew new iPhone 6s on release day. I logged into my apple account and iCloud. My contacts and such moved over to the new phone, but my photos did not. The amount of photos shows (700) but they are all white squares. You cannot see the actual picture. Any one had this problem? I have no clue how to fix it.
