Q: installation of el capitan

I downloaded el capitan but it wont install. I try to get past downloaded message and it just tells me to come back later. (this has been going on for 3 days) I seem to hve ben caught up in a loop of some sort.

 

MacBook Pro, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), I have 4 gigs of ram

    Hi there Marlin38,

     

    It sounds like you are having trouble installing Mac OS X 10.11. I would start by restarting the computer and trying again. This sounds simple, but it's where I would start.

    If it persists after you restart the computer, I would next delete the El Capitan installer from your Applications folder, download it again from the Mac App Store, and install it again. There may have been something wrong with the installer when it was downloaded initially.

     

    The attached steps explain how to download El Capitan again from the Purchased section of the Mac App Store.

    When purchased via the Mac App Store, apps are installed in the Applications folder. Icons for purchased apps are automatically placed in the current user's Dock. There is also a purchases tab in the Mac App Store where you can see all of your Mac App Store downloads.

    Thank you so much for your help. The second option which I probably wouldn't have thought of in a million years worked. I'm now installing S L O W L Y.
