Q: My iPhone is requesting that I sign into an iTunes Account using an ancient Apple ID I deleted long ago
I just did a full erase and restore of my iPhone. My iPhone is now requesting that I enter the PASSWORD of an ancient Apple ID that I deleted years ago - with help of Apple's tech support. As expected, the Apple webpage shows that this specific Apple ID doesn't exist. As a result, I can't retrieve the password. How do I resolve this?
iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 9.0.2

I was told by Apple Support to delete ALL items still on your iPhone that were purchased using your ancient Apple ID. Once this is done, you should be able to re-download these items for free using your new Apple ID. The catch is that there is no easy way to find out what app or song on your iPhone was purchased using which Apple ID. The thought of this gave me a headache; so I have just put my phone aside and haven't started yet.
Once all items on your phone are associated with your new Apple ID, the request to sign into the ancient iTunes account should cease.
