iphone 4 will not reset because it asks for apple ID no longer in use

Trying to reset my old iPhone 4 for my daughter, keeps asking me for a password to an Apple ID that I know longer use. When I put the old password in it tells me it is an invalid ID or password.

iPhone 4, iOS 7.1.2
