empty trash taking hours
I have 6800 items in trash, it has been 5 hours and still have 6400

If you deleted any TimeMachine backups via Finder, see > http://pondini.org/TM/12.html
Relaunch the Finder, then from the Finder menu bar, select
Finder ▹ Preferences... ▹ Advanced
and uncheck the box marked
Empty Trash securely
Try again to empty the Trash.
