I got an iPad from my grandma, and it's currently erased and requires an appleID and a password from her assistent which kind of escaped the country. what can I do?

I know it sounds pretty crazy, but it's real and I need your help

iPad 2, iOS 9.0.2, erased

If your grandma doesn't know the id and its password (and if she was the original purchaser of the iPad) then she could try going to an Apple Store (make a Genius Bar appointment if you do) or try contacting iTunes Support online (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/) and see if they can remove the iPad from the account - they are likely to want to see proof of ownership before they might help e.g. original receipt with the serial number on it
