I have my passcode disabled on my iPhone 6 as I need to respond to SMS messages very quickly - so I cannot use Apple Pay. If I buy an Apple Watch, can I use Apple Pay on the watch only?

Yes, you can set up and use Apple Pay only on your watch.
In order to do so, you will need a passcode on your Apple Watch and Wrist Detection turned on.

YYou can respond quickly to a text message on your iPhone even with passcode turned on. When you see the message on your lock screen tap and slide to the right to reveal the Reply button. Having an iphone with passcode turned off is asking for problems should you lose your phone or have it stolen from you,
Thanks Ralph; some of the SMS messages I have to respond to are quite long and have a link at the bottom that I need to click on, so not always easy to respond quickly with passcode enabled

I've found that TouchID is actually faster than swiping across the screen. Have you tried using it?
