Painfully slow MBP

I Have a 2012 MBP, and it has become incredibly slow. Horrendous lag, spinning wheel, takes minutes to boot up and a long time to open applications.

I'm on El Capitan but it wasn't Much better on Yosemite lately.

I Have 10gb of ram in a 8gb and 2gb stick, kernel task is about 800mb.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4)
