How to restore a new MacBook Air from a LaCie external hard drive?

Hello All,

Thank you for your attention and help to my question.

I bought a new Macbook Air a few days ago (which I have already set up etc..), and now am trying to restore a backup that I made a few days ago from my old MacBook pro to the new computer.

I am running into some troubles. When I enter time machine, it will not allow me to select my external hard drive and then will not allow me to select restore.

Can someone please give me as detailed directions as possible on what steps that I need to follow to restore the backup that I made few days ago?

btw - all software is up to date on both computers.
