Why would I continually receive message "unsuccessful" when attempting to download IOS 9.0.2?m

But try a reboot press & hold power button & menu button

Hold both down until you see Apple Logo.

Then try update over your wifi.

Your iphone must be a iphone 4s or newer for ios 9.0.2

HHow are you trying to download iOS 9.0.2? If you are just trying to update via Wi-Fi try connecting your iPad to your computer running iTunes and see if the update will work that way. Be sure you have the latest version of iTunes (12.3).
