how to restore deleted mailboxes

Please can anyone help. I have deleted by mistake all my mailboxes on my iMac computer.

How can I restore them? I have an external hard drive connected.

When I receive mail which I wish to keep I drag them across to named mail boxes on the left of the incoming mail.

Is all lost or can I get them back??
