Q: iphone 6s camera lag

I’m experiencing an issue with my iPhone 6s where the camera app is sometimes very laggy when starting up. Most of the time things are fine – I open the camera app and instantly see images from the rear camera. However, on occasion I will get either the last photo taken showing or (more often) see really slow updates (like a frame a second) from the camera for 5-6 seconds before it becomes usable. I haven’t seen anything online about others experiencing this issue, so it would be good to know if this is an isolated hardware issue or something others are seeing (and likely to be fixed by a future software update). FWIW I have done a complete restore on the phone via iTunes without the issue being solved.

It will not help, please read this thread. Iphone 6s owners, and now also iphone 7 owners are experiencing camera lag which can not be resolved by resetting. Even by resetting in the DFU mode. So please do not give advices which will not work. Iphone 6s and iphone 7 camera freeze/delay/lag is the problem that APPLE should address. I think that all iphone 6s and 7 are subject to this issue, as I have replaced my iphone 6s five times, and all had same issue. And now the same with iphone 7.

    Hi guys

Not really surprised about the iphone 7 presenting this lag. Probably it is a bug related to live photos engine (although disabling doesn't fix it) or maybe the new 12mp sensor.

Anyway for 6s users is really good news. Otherwise it wouldn't have been fixed never!!!

Don't forget that we have a huge difference now comparing with the beggining of this thread: WE HAVE AN EASY 2 MINUTES WAY TO REPRODUCE THE LAG!

On the other hand, apple won't fix a problem just for 20 people complaining in an isolate thread. WE SHOULD MAKE IT VISIBLE NOW THAT THE IPHONE 7 IS TREND!

    How?

    1) Create a thread analog to this but for the iphone 7. Explaining that there is an unacceptable bug that causes delay in camera if we use iphone to phone... I would just add the procedure:

    -Check there is no lag.

-Call to the voice mail or other number for 10 times (10 seconds each) to simulate a day calls.

-Reopen the camera and BUMP, lag of 5, 10 or even 20 seconds in this piece of art which is the iphone 7.

Dimascer, as you have iphone 7 and already checked could you open that thread? Maybe a link to this thread to show that it is not a recent bug but a long pursued one.

What would be amazing is a video of the iphone 7 presenting this lag. This could be a fenomenal weapon. If someone can do it...

    2) Apart from this, I'd propose to write the same in comments of several specialized blogs saying that the brande new iphone 7 has this nasty problem. 20 seconds to get a photo. When this gets popular it usually gets to main blogs as piece of news and we have what we want, that apple knows that for sure.

Well this is my humble proposition... And I'll do my best for it... Maybe I'll start for reddit which is always a big speaker for bugs...

    What do you think??

    Any idea?

    Hi

I've posted some comments in some articles. Hopefully someone will notice, try it and maybe receive more attention.

So far, in imore, forbes, gsmarena and arstechnica.

Also in reddit but I think that being a new user penalizes you. If someone has a strong user could also try to expand the truth...

Anyway, the more comments the more chances that apple realizes this terrible lag in its 2 last flagships!!!

By the way, great OP for the iphone 7... I expect it has more luck than this...

    Hello all,

I am very surprised with all these news. I can't imagine iPhone 7 could carrying this problem too.

My case ( id case: 1182124830) continues open and after putting a complain to apple for not attendant another senior advisor is following my case. He sent all the information and videos to "software engineering". They answer to send back all the logs from the iPhone:

    1. Have the customer hold both volume buttons on their device.
    2. Press the sleep/wake button. If the customer is using an iPhone, they should feel a brief vibration a few seconds later.
    3. Go to folder: ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/
    4. Compress and collect iOS device logs.

I wait for an answer this week. I will keep you informed.

Good job guys for all the information, I am going to send an email to my senior advisor adding more information written here.

Maybe we are not too far to find a solution...

    Regards.

It seems great news! If a sw engineer is on it, we can have hope!

I think that the iphone 7 having the same issue will help a lot (if they know that so far).

In case they need more logs, I'm sure there will be dozens of volunteers in this thread!

    Please, keep us informed!

Just off the phone to Apple support. They have asked for exact details on how to recreate the issue. I've sent them on step-by-step list, along with a link to this thread and youtube videos highlighting the problem.

When the camera app is force closed, the issue will NEVER happen. Ideally we need apple to implement instruction via SW update to kill the app once the home button is pressed, and not just put the app into the background.

Heres another new iPhone 7 that is experiencing the exact same camera lag problem mentioned on this thread, I also had this problem on 2 iPhone 6s phones and 1 iPhone 6s Plus.  My Brother also has the problem with his iPhone 6s.

I know there isn't any advice to give or receive on this issue.  I'm only replying to add another user that would like this fixed.

Thanks you to everyone who is taking the time to respond to this in hopes Apple will see it and start fixing it.  They can borrow my phone if thats what it takes for them to recreate the problem for a fix!

Hi, thanks for your post. I think apple can take any device to recreate the issue: as already said, they have replaced my phone 5 times and once also changed my camera module, it did not help. The issue is very wide spread, probably every iphone (6s and 7) has this issue!
