Q: iphone 6s camera lag

I’m experiencing an issue with my iPhone 6s where the camera app is sometimes very laggy when starting up. Most of the time things are fine – I open the camera app and instantly see images from the rear camera. However, on occasion I will get either the last photo taken showing or (more often) see really slow updates (like a frame a second) from the camera for 5-6 seconds before it becomes usable. I haven’t seen anything online about others experiencing this issue, so it would be good to know if this is an isolated hardware issue or something others are seeing (and likely to be fixed by a future software update). FWIW I have done a complete restore on the phone via iTunes without the issue being solved.

OK folks, we have touchdown. I can also confirm that following the 10.1 update, the issue has been resolved for the 6S plus!

Well done to all involved. I'm sure the persistence in this thread went some way to the issue being acted upon. Well done to the Apple gurus also

Let's hope for a speedy role out of 10.1 to all.

Just to re-confirm and to save people going back through old messages and to test for the issue:

    1. Kill all background apps (double tap home button and slide all windows up until you are left with just the home screen)

    2. Start the camera app - it WILL open immediately.

    3. Tap home button (this will place the camera app into multitasking (background)

    4. Dial any number (voicemail is easiest) and allow call to activate.

    5. Once the call has started (1 sec duration is sufficient), just hang up

    6. Repeat this process approx 10 times

    7. End the last call and tap home button

    8. From the home screen, tap the camera app and you should have no delay/blurred /frozen image

Again, this problem has been reported as affecting the 6S/6Splus & 7.

I firmly believe that our saving grace here was the fact that the new 7 was affected. This was always going to ensure quick intervention on Apples part.

    Bravo!!!

For sure this thread has helped. It is not the same explaining an apple tech/engineer that sometimes some unlucky had a lag than reproduce it in one minute whenever you want in EVERY phone.

And as a sw engineer this is essential...

Well, see you in the next bug

    Dear all,

After some complaints to Senior Advisor Department, after 4 cases about this issue, after a lot of time spended trying to solve this bug, we will do it. Someone in somewhere heard us.

It seems that with IOS 10.1 there is no lag. i did a lot of test and camera app open faster than ever.

    I feel very very happy.

Hello again, I have heard from some other two users (SE and 6s models) that the problem came back on 10.1 beta 2, but I am not sure if this info is reliable/or they had some other issues.

Please test the camera app carefully on ios 10.1 public beta 2 and report here in case the lag came back and under which circumstances.

My iphone 7 camera works fine since the update (updated to ios 10.1 public beta 2 on 05.10).

    Hi again,

I hope, first of all, the info is not reliable at all, second - may be those users are simply unlucky guys)

We must insist on this issue over here much harder to let Apple's eng-rs to fix this bug completely before the new iOS come into the world.

i would like to hear more feedbacks from those that tested 6s' with ios 10.1

is everything really fixed from the camera point of view?

can we be sure of this lag has disappeared for good?

i wonder if apple has put attention for this lag or it just seems to resolved for now.

10.1 beta testers please inform us on this issue if you havent done yet.
