Nov 2, 2015 4:55 AM in response to Cedric Frenetteby MarkeatResearch,I had exactly the same problem - my "rant" was deleted by a moderator - no more "rant like" than some of the commentary on this discussion - and of course no actual useful advice was given... hey ho .....Net net I struggled with problem playing preferences etc
In the end I installed "ecoute" so I could at least listen to my music without the spinning beach ball (it interface with iTunes playlists etc) and seems to work without the delays.
Certainly does not solve the problem and I agree 100% with all the comments it should not be necessary and that Apple really should do better.... but at least I can now enjoy the music until they fix iTunes which should be both Urgent and Important.
Just thought I would share in case some folks were running out of patience and wanted to enjoy their music.

Nov 2, 2015 5:12 PM in response to Cedric Frenetteby MysterE2,Anyone know a way to open iTunes activity window so I could see if it thinks it is doing something? Waiting patiently between (not responding) spinning colorball times I can get to the top window and pull down the window options from the menu bar, but no amount of time seems to get to where I can choose activity window, which has no keyboard shortcuts I know.

Nov 2, 2015 9:12 PM in response to MysterE2by JLPE,Hello everyone
I have been following this message group for over a week since the same thing was happening to me.
I read in a similar message board that downloading iTunes again will fix the problem.
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
since it was not working at all there is nothing to lose.
I re dowloaded it directly from the original website and after installing it and restarting the system it worked!!!! finally!!!!
hope this helps.

Nov 7, 2015 8:14 AM in response to Cedric Frenetteby jozipp,My main issue is that I must Force Quit iTunes to quit. I seem to also have trouble seeing connected iOS devices. I hope this is fixed soon, very frustrating.

Nov 7, 2015 1:38 PM in response to jozippby feend,I feel your frustration. Same problems. However when I opened iTunes and held option to select a different library, it opened without problems. No freezing or any other issues. This is not the solution I want though. I really don't want to have to create a new library and move my entire music collection to it and have to recreate playlists ect

Nov 11, 2015 7:13 PM in response to Cedric Frenetteby spaguil,Hi, has anyone found the solution to this? any word from Apple Support?

Nov 11, 2015 8:43 PM in response to spaguilby atp327,No Apple has not resolved this issue, besides they do not even acknowledge there is a problem. But as I stated in an earlier post download appzapper then zap itunes 12.3.1 and then download 12.3 on the internet and install it. At least that version is usable.

Nov 11, 2015 8:45 PM in response to spaguilby joshuaiz,Yes the solution is above in this thread - roll back to iTunes 12.3.0.44.
But I have been communicating with Apple via a bug report and they are working on this so stay tuned.

Nov 13, 2015 7:44 AM in response to Cedric Frenetteby vjpia,Since updating to iTune 10.3.1 back on October 22nd I've had nothing but problems with iTunes. It would take an average of four minutes to launch. Once launched it would run very slowly. No matter what I'd try to do - from simply playing a song to shopping in the iTunes Store - it would take at least 1 to 2 minutes for it to happen, and in the meantime I'd get the spinning beachball of doom. I tried wiping out iTunes and re-installing it through the iTunes download on the Apple website, but since it was still iTunes 10.3.1 that did not work at all. It was still slow. So I downloaded AppZapper... "zapped" iTunes... then went into my Time Machine Backups - back to October 21st (the day before I had updated to 10.3.1) - and restored iTunes back to version 10.3. Everything seems to be working fine now. It launches quickly and there's no delay with anything I try to do within iTunes. I did not lose any of my music library, playlists or anything. It's much, MUCH better... and I'm no longer cursing at my iMac!

Nov 14, 2015 9:19 AM in response to atp327by MysterE2,appzapped itunes with great trepidation. installed itunes12.3 I had downloaded. All started and worked! Lost 3 months of music inputs I had to redo but it works. When started a second time, some of the menu choices are labelled wrong, but everything is where it was and still works. Still awaiting a reasonf for 12.3.1's problem, and even more eagerly awaiting its update/correction.
