Stuck at Loading screen, can't boot into recovery either

Here's the Scenario..

i was using my desktop(macmini mid 2011) today without any issue, while i was on my browser this evening, it started to hang so i quit it through activity monitor

and then the finder app started to hang, i tried to shut it down but couldnt so i did force shut own by holding down the power button. then when i tried to reboot it didn't, instead it was stuck at the apple logo and the spinning wheel (Osx 10.7.5)

I have a separate partition with OSX Yosemite installed on it(which i use from time to time and as a backup in case of a situation like this), i tried to boot into this OS and the same thing happens, it gets stuck at the apple logo and the loading bar at a little less than half)

I can't even boot into any of the recovery partitions either, it's the same thing that happens.

i tried resetting the NVRAM/PRAM but that didn't make a difference

i'm typing this by loading a linux ubuntu that i have on a Usb. i can see all the drives/partitions on my mac.

How can i fix this. please help me.

Try to force your Mac to boot into Internet Recovery by holding down Command+Option+R at startup.

The reinstall the OS.

Do y have another Mac? A bootable clone? or a bootable USB media with OSX installmedia

NOp, i don't have another mac. if i reinstall osx will i lose all my data? i've done this before from the local recovery partition and my data was still there.. i only had to re apply the permissions

and do i have to re install both OSes? i had no issue with Yosemite. it just won't boot into any of the partitions

With EC there is no longer Permissions to repair.

If you can boot to Internet Recovery you can copy/clone the existing drive to an external drive so maybe you can get your data back. In internet Recovery yu will only be offered Lion and you will have to format the disk to install Lion, To clone the disk see:

whats EC? and by formatting the disk to install lion do you mean i have to delete my existing partition?

EC=El Capitan.

You you have to erase a partition to install Lion.

You can also install Lion on an external drive, boot to that and download the installer for EC and the run that installer and reinstall EC over the existing installation of EC.
