Usually at start up the OS try to connect to internet in order to syncronize with the Cloud.

This happens only if you activated Cloud syncronization at the end of OS installation or upgrade procedure.

At the firsr restart (After the login) the computer can ask you again the password of your Apple Id to start the synchronization process.

If you want, you can disable this behaviour modifying the Cloud setting of your system preferences.
