Try resetting the SMC if you are still having the problem.

Have the devices paired with something else? If so, they need to be deleted from there first.

they have been connected to this computer for 5 years this happened suddenly and unexpectedly, I can't make sense of this.
Oodd....I am not trying to be smart...is BT turned on?
I cannot think of any reason why they would suddenly decide to be disconnected. Yout cannot reset PRAM without a KB.
