Skype video call volume is far too low.

I have iPhone 6s plus with IOS 9.0.2 and Skype 6.3 (new install). If try to make a video call using the internal mic and speaker the max volume is far too low. Does anyone else have the same problem? Any suggestions?

Same behaviour with the iPhone case removed and noise cancellation on or off.
