You get 5GB of free space. If you want more you have to pay for it: pricing is charged monthly(there is no annual option). 50GB $0.99 p.m., 200GB $2.99 p.m., 1TB $9.99 p.m. (UK £0.79, £2.49, £6.99). There is no way of increasing it for free - why would there be?
Ok, why would there be question, to attract more users and please existing customers!
Google drive has a 15 GB
Microsoft onedrive 30 GB
Amazon has unlimited storage for your pictures if you PRIME MEMBER (100$ per year) along with hole bunch of other benefits.
I think Apple can afford to give up more cloud space to their loyal customers this is make sense for me!
You can stop using iCloud and start using Google if all you want is a bit of free space, or Microsoft even.
Good point, I am not using ICloud storage at all but I do use Google and Microsoft. And saving all picture from iphone to Amazon cloud. Looks like that is what Apple getting from customers. You have to look to find the way around limits and restrictions that Apple cage you in to.
Not everybody expects everything for free, I use iCloud, and I pay for it. You made your choice so now you're stuck with Google.
I value security and privacy far more than a couple of dollars.
What's on a cloud is not private anymore, or you may think it is.
Google reserve the right to sell your data to anyone who wants to buy it.
Apple don't, so you have a good day in fantasyland.
it's expected, if you need a privacy buy yourself a hard drive and dump all you data in locked closet
Have a nice day, I'm done here.

Do your research first before making such erroneous statements!
Did you actually read that Google document? You're OK with Google following you around the internet, tracking which web sites you frequent? Which sites you are going to? Which site you just clicked away from?
Let him have his fantasy, he'll sulk otherwise.

I'm fine with as I've got nothing to hide. I'm almost certain that it's the same for most of us who use any internet search engine except Duck Duck Go.
