Cant download photos from iCloud to mac

Cant download photos from iCloud to mac

I want to free up space on iCloud. i select several photos and click download, but nothing happens. photos get deselected and no other movement on the screen. can you please help me?

MacBook Air, iOS 8.4.1

Have you checked your download folder.

Yes, I did. Nothing there.

I could download them to PC. But I still need to download to Mac
