Mail viewing goes back to old message

when I view Mail on the iPad and iPhone it always goes back to an old mail, not the one I recently viewed and read.

THis happened when I updated to iOS 9. So now to see the recent mail I have to scroll all the way up in the list of messages.

HOw can I fix this? Or is this a bug?

iPad Air, iOS 9.0.2

Hi Judy,

i just removed the corresponding mail account (switched it off in settings > accounts and passwords) started Mail, closed Mail, switched the account back on. Everything seems to work fine now.

hope this helps!

One year on and Apple still haven't fixed this issue - do they even know it exists? Do they CARE if it is causing us to be frustrated? I guess not. This is typical of the way Apple has turned out, getting more and more disgusted with Apple on a daily basis - but (And I think they realise this) I have too many Apple devices to make a change.

The problem is on my iPad Air since upgrading to iOS 9.

IT happens when I view mail.

IT also happens when I am already viewing a mail, click on a link.

When I return from the link it doesn't go to the mail I was reading previously, it goes to some random earlier mail way down the list.

SO annoying.

For me, it's only an issue when opening the Mail app on the iPad Pro. It always opens to the same old message. Once I've scrolled up and viewed newer email messages it's fine, until I close out of Mail. When I reopen Mail the same old message will be highlighted and I'll have to scroll again to get new messages. It IS annoying.
