Locked out of my Mac Air OS X version 10.9.5 - I was using the German keyboard. The problem is my password is on the US keyboard. The laptop went to sleep and now requires a password but how can I log in if I can't access the keyboard to change the language?

What characters are you having a problem with? Most can be made with either German or US keyboard if you know the shortcuts. Plus of course US is qwerty instead of qwertz.
Good question, not exactly sure what problem I am having. I haven't tried to look at the German keyboard, I will try that and try to log in again.
I have checked and the only issue should be the y but even when I use the z key which should be the y on the German keyboard, I am still not able to log in.
Are you sure that is only character in a different place? Email me the others for checking if you like (tom at bluesky dot org).
Is this the keyboard you normally use to type your password? Or the one you have to use now (normally using US to type your password)?
