I can no longer insert, paste, or edit MathType Equations in El Capitan. Nothing happens when I try to insert or paste equations. Editing Equations results in the old equation disappearing. MathType 6.7h and Pages 5.5.3. The Design Science website is down so I cannot look for a newer version of Mathtype.
If you are launching MathType prior to launching Pages v5.5.3 and your problem persists, then the answer is most likely obtaining an El Capitan compatible build of MathType.

Interesting. The order does make a difference. It appears to work, if I launch MathType first. I never noticed a launch order issue previous to this. Thanks.

Our apologies for the website having been down over the weekend. The fault was with our hosting provider, but it's back up. (Just a side point -- it would have been good to have marked Viking's reply as the answer, rather than your own.)
I Accidentally marked my ne as correct, I tried to fix that but the form software doesn't allow you to do that.
The main thing is that you got the help you needed, and it is always good to see a post from Mr. MathType.😉
