Help! How to update itunes.

I have just updated my 4S iphone to iOS 9.0.2 and now it won't connect to my itunes 11.4 and tells me to update itunes. I can't update itunes because it won't update on my Mac OS X 10.6.8. I'm stuck. What can I do???
