Wifi no longer connecting

Since upgrading to the new El Capitan software, my MacBook Air is no longer connecting to my wifi. Other devices are connecting fine, and it only has been an issue after the upgrade. I have tried these solutions so far but have had no success:

1. Going to System Preferences, Network and then deleting the wifi connection and then reentering the details and trying to connect. It keeps telling me that my password is incorrect even though I am using the password from the router directly and all of my other devices are fine.

2. Restarting my laptop and then holding down option, and trying to connect to the connection through that. Again, it doesn't accept my password.

If anyone had any advice/has been experiencing the same thing, I'd really appreciate some feedback/support. Thank you in advance.

If your Wi-Fi source is capable of generating a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network, try that to help avoid conflicts with Bluetooth.

I appreciate your help. It says "This computer was unable to join the Wi-Fi Network you selected. You may have entered an incorrect password or network name, chosen the wrong type of wireless security, or you may be out of range of the base station."

I don't have Bluetooth switched on, the password is the one from my router (which I can connect to with two different computers), and I am standing directly next to the router when I try to connect - i have reset my router a couple of times to see if that was the issue to hit unfortunately that hasn't done anything. Currently when I try to connect the Wi-Fi icon is orange and I have tried to connect to other internet connections (went to a coffee shop to try and use their wifi) but it isn't connecting to anything.

Thanks.

Can confirm, fresh install of El Capitan, Mac Air late 2012, wifi looks connected but no login page (hotel wifi - tried two different networks in two different places).

My Mac Pro handled the networks fine, so it's just the Air with the new install.

I followed the link to the discussion ( Why is the system wi-fi prompt going to a non-logged-in user? ) and created a new user (standard user) and swapped from admin user to standard user and lo and behold the wifi connects and shows the login page.
