Contacts are in my Contact Book but not in Messages

On my MacBook Pro, all of my contacts are listed in my contact book (with the correct phone numbers) but in the messages app, all of the numbers are showing up without a name/contact. This has been going on for a couple of days. I updated the software on my Mac and it didn't fix the problem. Please help!
