Bluetooth Connection between Macbook and iPhone

Hi,

I have a problem pairing my macbook (v 10.11) and iphone 5 (v 9.0.2). I can connect but when I attempt to pair I get this message on my phone: "Pairing Unsuccessful, Make sure Sarah's Macbook Air is turned on, in range, and is ready to pair".

Any ideas why?

Macs have not ever been able to (or designed to) pair with iPhones or iPads.

What are you trying to do? There is some other way to do it.

And there are occasional activities (e.g., AirDrop) that require Bluetooth on both devices but do not "Pair" per se.
